The region's largest health insurance provider has added a new executive to its leadership team.
MVP Health Care named Dr. Richard Dal Col as the company's new president of health management and provider and network strategy on Thursday.
“With decades of experience, Dr. Dal Col is an accomplished health care executive who will bring unique expertise to MVP,” said MVP Health Care CEO and President Chris Del Vecchio in a statement.
The Schenectady-based insurer said Dal Col will lead the company in aligning clinical operations and services with its provider network, driving better care and outcomes for customers across New York and Vermont.
Dal Col's previous position was as enterprise chief medical officer for state nonprofit insurer EmblemHealth. Prior to that, he was chief medical officer and senior vice president for medical affairs for CDPHP, the region's second-largest local insurer, as well as a senior cardiothoracic surgeon at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Dal Col has a doctor of medicine degree from Albany Medical College, a master's in public health from the University at Albany and a bachelor of science degree from LeMoyne College outside Syracuse.
MVP employs nearly 950 people in the region and had local revenues of $2.97 billion in 2022, according to the most recent Privately Held Companies and Nonprofits List.
