The change comes roughly two years after the company was acquired.

AmeriVet Veterinary Partners, a San Antonio-based company that provides operational support services for clinical facilities across the U.S., is under new leadership.

The organization has named Orin Litman as its new CEO.

The change comes roughly two years after AmeriVet’s prior CEO, Thomas Thill, confirmed that funds managed by AEA Investors LP and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority had acquired the company from Toronto’s Imperial Capital Group.

Litman founded Ontario-based VetStrategy, a veterinary network in Canada, more than 18 years ago. He has served as its CEO and chairman at different points during that time.

Litman brings 20-plus years of industry experience and led the largest veterinary practice consolidator in Canada. He and his wife, Dr. Michelle Cutler, built VetStrategy into a network of nearly 400 clinics.

He also co-founded AmeriVet and has served on its board since 2016.

AmeriVet, which has deep Canadian roots, planted its headquarters flag in San Antonio in 2018. Company officials said at the time that AmeriVet would operate as a sister company to VetStrategy.

Thill served as CEO of AmeriVet since its arrival in San Antonio. He was tasked with securing a headquarters home for the company, which had a stake in roughly two dozen veterinary practices in the U.S. at that time.

By 2020, the company had grown its network to nearly 70 practices in 26 states and expanded its workforce. That year, it generated $143 million in revenue, an increase of $59 million over 2019, and grown its network to 80 hospitals.

AmeriVet officials confirmed that, recognizing the shift needed to further expand the company, Thill decided to step down from the CEO position, allowing Litman to build on the growth the company has experienced under his leadership.

Thill will serve as an advisor to AmeriVet’s board of directors, executive leadership team and the company's key partners for the foreseeable future.
